Sponsored Walk

October 2009

Up-dated 31 October 2009

(Please see latest news at the end of this page)

We went on a sponsored walk today in aid of the local Cancer Hospices.

The local pipe band came to send us on our way....

We set off with our dogs on the three mile walk...

We went down to a wood....

Which was nice and cool ....

This little chap called Blue took a fancy to Bonnie!

When we got back we were invited to make our own ukulele.

They provided an empty plastic butter carton, piece of wood and the strings and showed us how to make them. We will all be congregating in the town centre at the end of the month for a mass ukulele playing session. It should be fun!

Finally, we had to have a look around the car boot sale where we bought a squirrel soft toy for Bonnie and a nice 'teddy bear' book mark for Helen.

Sunday mornings don't get much better than this!

Oh, and the ukuleles? Helen and me made one each and this

is the one I made. :O)

Up-date 31 October 2009:

We went to the town centre today and joined in the ukulele playing session

- which was good fun. It would have helped if the ukes had been tuned

first and George Formby was probably spinning in his grave! But they said

there were around 100 there, as well as the TV and press

- and we enjoyed it!

The chap in the straw hat on the left and the one in white were the only 'real' ukulele players

and fortunately they didn't bring their real ukeleles along to shame us!

They tuned our ukuleles  for us when we first made them but they seemed to have gone

out of tune in the meantime! :O)

YAT is Youth Action Teams which is all about the recognition of outstanding volunteers and these youngsters volunteer for all kinds of projects throughout the UK.

Finally, I have just seen a guy on YouTube who puts our ukulele playing to shame.
